China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) founded in 1952, is a trade and investment promotion organization under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and The State Council. It is an important link between the Party and the government and people in the economic and trade circles, enterprises and organizations, an important bridge for domestic and foreign business communities to carry out economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, and an important force to promote the development of an open economy and serve the overall situation of foreign work.

By July 2017, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade had 17 industry branches, 48 local branches, more than 600 branches and county-level international Chambers of Commerce. There are nearly 70,000 member enterprises nationwide. In June 1988, with the approval of The State Council, the China Chamber of International Commerce was established in Beijing. The China Chamber of International Commerce and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade are "one organization, two brands". The competent unit of the China Chamber of International Commerce is the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
